WOW! Now that’s what I call TEAM-work!

Anyone who knows me, knows that networking is not my favourite pastime.

I do genuinely love people - my whole career has been about building business excellence, and a big part of that is developing high performing teams. Yet still, for a closet introvert like me, networking has its challenges!

Yesterday, all that was turned on its head at the TEAM North West regional meeting. It was jam-packed with TEAM members, service providers, guests, and TEAM staff (Kirsty Craig, Simon Bliss and Andy Dunne) - and all were genuinely warmly welcoming, with a strong desire to help and support each other to thrive.

The quality of speakers and what they covered was brilliant, with practical and inspiring insights; in particular how to maximise potential opportunities (Nitin Sharma, RecTalks) – and minimise threats - and turn them into opportunities too (Simon Bloch, JMW Solicitors).

But what really struck me was the sheer level of generosity in the way they all operate - every single person there:

  • Members not only sharing business (with potential to significantly increase revenue as a result), but collaborating so deeply, that they can confidently fulfil business outside their specialism, without losing focus, safe in the knowledge their clients are in good hands.

  • High quality service providers going above and beyond for TEAM members, being an extension to their businesses in real terms. For example, support in educating members’ clients with white papers and as subject experts; free 2-hour finance management health checks; plus, rather than just seeing each other as competition, recommending other providers, to best suit their customers.

And that’s just what I witnessed as a guest in one afternoon. Can you tell I was slightly blown away?!

It wasn’t until I was driving home and reflecting, that I realised just how powerful that meeting was.

It was real teamwork in a networking / membership organisation, across every category of participant, something I’d never before experienced to that extent. Powerful stuff.
